The owner of a 2009 Dodge Journey contacted the Highland Park Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen overnight from their driveway.

The Highland Park PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge.

A short while later detectives with the Detroit Police Department Commercial Auto Theft Section (CATS)  picked up the silent LoJack  signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked the Dodge to a residential garage in Detroit.

Surveillance was established on the residence and after some time two males were observed removing parts and property from the Dodge.  Both males were arrested and the stolen Dodge was impounded for processing.  After further investigation both males were charged with operating a chop shop and receiving stolen property.  The stolen Dodge was later returned to the owner.
