The owners of a 2004 Lexus SC430 contacted the Chicago Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the 3500 block of west 85th street in Chicago’s Ashburn neighborhood. The Chicago PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Lexus SC430.

A short while later officers from the Chicago PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Lexus with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Lexus to the 7700 block of south Ashland Avenue where it was observed with a suspect tampering with the stolen Lexus and an idling Jeep nearby. Upon Chicago PD approach the suspect and vehicle fled. The suspect on foot was captured by responding officers and a flash put out on the fleeing vehicle. Police investigation into this vehicle theft and recovery continues.

The Lexus was recovered and returned to the owner by the Chicago PD with minimal damage. Officers on scene agreed, if not for the LoJack concealed in the Lexus it would of soon been totally stripped.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Lexus SC430 in Aug of 2007 at McGrath Lexus of Westmont Illinois.
