The owners of a 2013 Honda Ridgeline contacted the Skokie Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the 4400 block of Greenwood Ave in Skokie, Illinois. The Skokie PD responded to the scene and after verifying the facts entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda. It was determined the Honda may have been taken with keys.

Short time later officers from the Chicago Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that is installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers determined that the Honda was in motion but within their general vicinity. The officers issued a flash on the zone for wanted LoJack vehicle which resulted in the Honda being observed south bound on South Homan Ave in Chicago’s Harrison District.

The Honda was briefly pursued until it was abandoned on the 3500 block of West Douglas Ave. The two offenders seen driving the Honda made good their escape on foot. The undamaged Honda was recovered by Chicago PD and returned to Skokie and a grateful owner. The investigation into this vehicle theft and recovery continues.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Ridgeline in June 2014 at Castle Honda of Morton Grove, Illinois.
