The owners of a 2008 Honda Accord contacted the Durham Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen by a known person from the victim’s home on Beechwood Drive.  As a result of the unauthorized taking of the vehicle and failure to return, the owners presented evidence to a Magistrate and obtained a warrant charging the suspect.

The Durham PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later officers from the Durham PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to the 500 block of Mutual Drive, within three miles from the theft site.  The suspect was also arrested on the outstanding warrant and the Honda Accord was released to the owners with little or no damage.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in October 2010 at Crown Honda in Durham, North Carolina.
