The owners of a 2007 Toyota Corolla contacted the Houston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from them while they were at their apartment complex. The owner had just returned to his apartment complex, parked his Toyota, and as he entered his apartment two suspects followed him inside producing a handgun and robbed him. The suspects took personal items and the keys to his Toyota and sped away.

The Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the State and Federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Corolla.

Just fifteen (15) minutes later officers from the Pasadena Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers overtook the Toyota travelling on Spencer Highway. As the Toyota approached the intersection of Spencer and Shaver the officers blocked the vehicle in to prevent the driver from fleeing. The Toyota was occupied with four (4) male suspects who were arrested without incident. The driver was charged with Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle, and the remaining passengers were charged with Criminal Trespass. Additional possible charges pending to include robbery with a deadly weapon.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Corolla in April 2007 at Mike Calvert Toyota in Houston, Texas.
