The operator of a 2006 Kenworth T800 dump truck arrived at work and discovered their truck missing. They contacted the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime during the night. The responding deputy prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.

Immediately upon activation, a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputy picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen T800 dump truck on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC).  The deputy began tracking the stolen dump truck by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The deputy, along with their backup, located the dump truck at a truck repair shop on Southern Boulevard. The county Auto Theft Task Force responded and established surveillance on the business. After several hours, surveillance was terminated with negative results. The ATTF then began their investigation. The dump truck was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2006 Kenworth T800 dump truck in May 2005 at Kenworth of Central Florida in Orlando.
