The owner of a 2011 Toyota RAV-4 contacted the New York Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen while parked on Reservoir Oval, located in the Norwood section of the Bronx.

The NYPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers (NYSPIN/ NCIC) which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota. A short while later detectives assigned to the Bronx DA’s Auto Squad, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the detectives tracked and located the unoccupied Toyota parked on the 600 block of 192nd Street in the confines of the Bronx’s 52nd Precinct. Surveillance was setup for a short time with negative results. The undamaged Toyota was eventually impounded for safekeeping and later returned to a very happy owner. The LoJack® System was installed in the 2011 Toyota RAV-4 in October 2011 at Towne Toyota in Ledgewood, New Jersey.
