The owner of a 2013 Ford Mustang contacted the Kyle Police Department to report that his vehicle was stolen. The Ford was parked in the driveway and when he went to go to work in the morning, he found it missing.

The Kyle PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford. Later, officers from the Austin Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the stolen Ford to the 2000 block of Winthrop Way, where they found it parked against the curb. The Ford had a flat tire and minor damage to the front fender. The owner had let a friend borrow his Ford a week earlier and thinks the friend had returned to his house and took it without his permission. This is an ongoing investigation.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Mustang in November of 2012 at Mac Haik Ford in Desoto, TX.
