1 2The owners of a 2014 Toyota Camry contacted the Houston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residence.

The Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the State and Federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota Camry. A short while later deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota Camry with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Toyota to a large retail parking lot and set up surveillance and requested the State helicopter to assist if the vehicle moved. Shortly after, a lone male suspect entered the Toyota and sped away. A pursuit ensued and the DPS airship traveled to the area just as the suspect jumped from the Toyota at 3800 Cedar Garden and fled southwest along the bayou. The aircrew observed the subject, using the FLIR camera, in a wooded area behind a residence and directed the officers to the location where he was arrested without incident. The Toyota sustained minor damage.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Camry in July 2014 at Sterling McCall Toyota, Houston, TX.
