The owners of a 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of their apartment complex.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Dodge. A short while later, officers from the Phoenix PD and the Arizona Highway Patrol picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Dodge to the area of I-17 and Bell Road in Phoenix.

The officers located the stolen Dodge parked in a motel parking lot. No suspects were observed near the Dodge. The Dodge was recovered and processed for evidence. The Dodge was then returned to the owners in good condition. The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Dakota in September 2004 at Lou Grubb Chrysler Jeep Dodge in Phoenix, Arizona.
