The owner of a 2015 BMW contacted the Dekalb County Police Department to report that this vehicle was stolen from his home.

The Dekalb County PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

A short while later a Dekalb County PD helicopter began to pick up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the pilot tracked the BMW to a shopping area where the vehicle was spotted from the air moving thru a construction area of an apartment complex under construction. The air unit contacted a police unit on the ground to assist in locating the stolen BMW. When the officer came into the area the police helicopter unit helped the officer locate the stolen BMW with one person inside. With the Police Helicopter overhead the officer made the stop and arrested the driver for the theft of the BMW.

The 2015 BMW was returned to the owner in excellent condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW in October 2014 at United BMW of Gwinnett. Georgia.
