The owner of a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban discovered that their vehicle had been stolen. The vehicle owner called 911 and the Upper Saucon Township Police Department dispatched an officer to investigate the incident. The officer quickly arrived on location, interviewed the vehicle owner and searched the area for the stolen vehicle. When the Suburban could not be located, the assigned officer prepared a stolen vehicle report and arranged to have the stolen vehicle information entered into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet Suburban.

The supervisor of the Lehigh County Auto Theft Task Force monitors any and all stolen vehicle activity in Lehigh and Northampton Counties in Pennsylvania. The supervisor became aware that Upper Saucon Township had made a stolen vehicle entry and that the stolen vehicle was LoJack equipped. The Lehigh County Auto Theft Task Force investigators fanned out across Lehigh County with undercover police vehicles that are equipped with LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC). The investigators picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigators tracked the signal to the area of a hardware store in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The investigators became aware that Allentown PD marked police vehicles were also tracking the LoJack signal with LoJack equipment installed in the marked vehicles. The two law enforcement agencies coordinated their efforts and quickly located the undamaged Suburban in the hardware store parking lot. The marked vehicles moved away from the area and the undercover auto theft investigators placed the Suburban under surveillance. When the results of the surveillance were negative, the auto theft investigators confiscated the Chevrolet Suburban to be processed for physical evidence.

The Upper Saucon PD was notified regarding the recovery of the Suburban. This incident remains under investigation by the members of the Lehigh County Auto Theft Task Force.
