The owner of a 2006 Hyundai Sonata contacted the Lee County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime during the night. The responding deputy prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.

A short while later a Lee County SO deputy picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Sonata on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC).  The deputy began tracking the stolen Sonata by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The deputy, along with their backup, located the Sonata abandoned in a wooded lot in the 1500 block of Gator Circle South. The Sonata was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2006 Hyundai Sonata at Herb Chambers Hyundai of Auburn in Auburn, Massachusetts in October 2005.
