The owner of a 2002 Honda Civic 2-door coupe contacted the Coral Springs Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime during the night. The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.

A short while later a Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputy picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Civic on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC).  The deputy began tracking the stolen Honda by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The Broward County SO aviation unit helicopter responded to the area to assist in locating the Civic. The aviation unit spotted the Civic in the parking lot of an apartment complex near S.W. 10th Street and Military Trail. The deputy, along with their backup, located the Civic with ignition damage on the north side of the parking lot. The Civic was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2002 Honda Civic 2-door coupe at Herb Chambers in Burlington, Massachusetts in April 2002.
