The owners of a 2009 Toyota Corolla contacted the California Highway Patrol to report that their vehicle was stolen. The California Highway Patrol verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

About one hour later an investigator from TRATT, the Tulare County Auto Theft Task Force, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigator tracked the Toyota to the vicinity of Elm and Van Ness in the city of Tulare. The Toyota was found abandoned on the side of the road in a residential area. A surveillance of the Toyota was conducted for several hours but the suspects never returned to the vehicle.

The Toyota was recovered intact and undamaged; it was released to the owner at the scene.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Corolla in July 2009 by Hamer Toyota of Mission Hills, California.
