The owners of a 2014 Volkswagen Passat contacted the Scottsdale Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot of an apartment complex in north Scottsdale.

The Scottsdale PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Volkswagen.

A short while later a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Volkswagen.  The PTCs are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Volkswagen was tracked to the area of 29th Street and Bell Road in Phoenix.

The stolen Volkswagen was found unoccupied in the parking lot of an apartment complex.  Detectives from the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force responded to the area and recovered the Volkswagen in good condition.  The Volkswagen was processed for evidence and towed for safe keeping.
