The owner of a 2007 White Ford F-350 pickup truck contacted the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen sometime during the night. The responding deputy prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.
Immediately upon activation, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, driving on the Florida Turnpike, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen F-350 on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The trooper began tracking the stolen Ford by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The trooper, along with their backup, located the Ford abandoned in an empty lot near N.W. 213rd Street and 39th Avenue, Miami Gardens. The pickup truck was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.
The LoJack® System was installed in the 2007 Ford F-350 pickup truck at Autoshield in The Alarm Place in October 2006.
