The owners of a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

A short while later, officers from the Arizona Highway Patrol and the Phoenix Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Chevrolet to the area of 19th Avenue and Bell Road in Phoenix.

The Phoenix PD auto theft detectives located the Chevrolet unoccupied in a motel parking lot.  The auto theft detectives conducted surveillance on the stolen Chevy Malibu for several hours.  No suspects were observed coming back to the Chevy, so it was recovered and processed for evidence.  The Chevy Malibu was later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Malibu in May 2005 at Peoria Nissan in Peoria, Arizona.
