The owner of a 2009 Jaguar XF 4-door sedan drove their car into a car wash in the 1300 block of North Tamarind Avenue to have it cleaned. An employee drove the Jaguar to the service area, left the keys in the car and the motor running. The owner saw a subject enter the Jaguar and drive it off the property. The owner realizing that their Jaguar had just been stolen contacted the West Palm Beach Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

The responding officer prepared a stolen vehicle report, theft affidavit and had the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime information computers.  A short while later a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputy picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Jaguar XF on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC).  The deputy began tracking the stolen Jaguar by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The deputy, along with their backup, observed the Jaguar in the 1400 block of North Tamarind Avenue, where they performed a “felony stop” on it, detaining a suspect. After reviewing the video tape of the car wash premises, the deputy arrested the suspect for Grand Theft Auto. The Jaguar was recovered, released to the owner, who responded to the scene, and removed from state and federal crime information computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2009 Jaguar XF 4-door sedan at Hempstead Auto Co. – Jaguar in Great Neck, New York in March 2009.
