The owner of a 2006 Chevrolet Impala contacted the Chicago Police Department to report their vehicle missing from the 5400 block of S Loomis in Chicago’s New City neighborhood. The Chicago PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet Impala.

Hours later Officers from the Chicago PD and Illinois State Police picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the Chevrolet was located on a cul-de-sac street in Chicago’s Kenwood neighborhood.

The 2006 Chevrolet Impala was found parked, unoccupied, and undamaged. The Chevrolet recovered by the Illinois State Police and towed for investigation.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Impala in March 2006 at Fox Chevy Geo in Laurel, Maryland.
