The owners of a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder contacted the New York Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen while parked near their residence on the 900 block of East 178th street, in the confines of the Bronx’s 48th precinct.

The NYPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

A short while later officers assigned to the NYPD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Nissan with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Nissan to a commercial parking lot on East Tremont Avenue in the confines of the 45th Precinct. Surveillance was setup for a short time when two males were observed entering the stolen Nissan. The officers surrounded the Nissan and immediately placed both suspects under arrest. The undamaged Nissan along with a set of keys was impounded as arrest evidence and was later released to an extremely happy owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Pathfinder in January 2006 at Cox Nissan in Bronx, New York.
