This classic restored Mercedes 500SL was stolen during a daytime residential burglary.  Thieves found the keys while taking other items from the house.

When the crimes were discovered the theft was reported to the Seattle Police Department who verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes.

A King County Sheriff’s Office Air Support unit helicopter (Guardian One) picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the pilots located the Mercedes in the 3900 block of 100th Street SW in West Seattle.  Deputies and a detective were directed to the location.

The Mercedes was processed for evidence and released to the owner.  It was not damaged.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes 500SL in June of 2010 at Town & Country Jeep in Seattle, Washington.
