The owners of a 2015 Melroe Bobcat skid steer front loader contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their pipeline construction site on Garrett Road sometime over the previous weekend. The loader was secured on Friday and when they returned to work on Monday found it missing.

The Harris County SD deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Melroe Bobcat.

The Harris County SD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Melroe Bobcat loader with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Bobcat to a large parcel of land off Oak Wood near the San Jacinto River. The person in charge of the property gave consent to search and deputies located and identified the loader. The subject was identified and information turned over to the Harris County SD task force for investigation. The subject is expected to be arrested at a later date. The loader was in good condition and was released to the owner.
