The owners of a 2007 Ford Mustang contacted the Kent County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen overnight from their driveway in Byron Center which is just south of Grand Rapids.

The Kent County SO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

A short while later deputies with the Kent County SO picked up the silent LoJack  signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Ford to a remote area of Byron Center.

Because of the quick recovery, the suspects did not have enough time to strip it or use it to commit additional crimes.  The stolen Ford was impounded and later returned to the owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford Mustang in January 2007 at Maroone Chevrolet in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
