The owners of a 2006 Ford F-250 pickup truck contacted the Miami-Dade Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen during the night. The Miami-Dade PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford.

Later that morning an investigator from the Auto Theft Task Force picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Ford with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the investigator tracked the Ford to area of N.W. 39th Avenue and N.W. 199th Street. As it was in the Miami Gardens’ PD jurisdiction, they responded to continue the investigation. After further investigation, the Ford was recovered from the driveway of a home in the area and the occupant arrested for Grand Theft Auto.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Ford F-250 in April 2006 at World Ford-Kendall, Miami, Florida.
