The owner of this BMW contacted the Garden Grove Police Department and reported that their vehicle had been stolen. The officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Within less than 8 minutes from the activation, flight officers from the Los Angeles Police Department Air-18 and ground units from the LAPD Southeast Division picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the BMW to the 1600 block of 112 St and located the BMW parked in the front yard of a residence. Officers contacted the resident and learned that a relative drove the BMW to that location earlier. The female relative was contacted and questioned.  She denied driving the BMW even though the keys were in her pocket and personal items were located inside the vehicle.  This female was arrested and later booked for Auto Theft.

The LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this BMW in December 2004 at Crevier BMW Motors Inc.
