The owners of a 2004 Volkswagen Passat contacted the Douglasville Police Department to report that his vehicle had been from a business while he was inside.

The Douglasville PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Volkswagen.

Within a short time of the LoJack activation a Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputy equipped with a LoJack tracking unit began to pick up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen car with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that were installed in the police cars in Douglas County.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Volkswagen to a rural part of the county where the deputy spotted the car parked with someone inside. The deputy called for assistance on a traffic stop and the deputies arrested the driver for the theft of the Volkswagen.

The owner did not know that his Volkswagen was equipped with a LoJack unit and was glad that it did.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Volkswagen in June 2004 at Wellesley VW in Massachusetts.
