The owners of a 2003 Dodge Durango contacted the DeKalb County Police Department to report that his vehicle had been taken sometime during the night.

The DeKalb County PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Durango.

Within a short time of the LoJack activation a DeKalb County PD officer equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) began to pick up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Dodge with the PTC that were installed in the police cars in DeKalb County PD.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the police officers tracked the Durango to a rural part of the county where the officer spotted the car parked with someone inside.  The officer found that a person was asleep inside of the Durango.

After checking the identity of the person, the officer charged him with the theft of the Durango and other related charges.

The owner did not know that his Dodge was equipped with a LoJack unit and was glad that it did.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Dodge Durango in November 2004 at CarMax Southlake.
