The owners of a 2005 Subaru Forester contacted the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle had been stolen from their residence.  The owners advised that the vehicle was taken by a roommate without permission.

The Maricopa County SO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Subaru.

A short while later, deputies from the Maricopa County SO and the helicopter from the Mesa Police Department, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Subaru with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the helicopter crew tracked the Subaru to the area of Crismon Road and Guadalupe Road in Mesa.

Officers from the Mesa PD found the Subaru unoccupied.  The Mesa PD recovered the stolen Subaru and processed it for evidence.  The suspect was identified and is known by the police from prior thefts.  Further investigation will be conducted with felony charges pending.  The Subaru was returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Subaru Forester in March 2005 at Pitre Isuzu Subaru in Scottsdale, Arizona.
