The owners of a Toyota Celica contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.  The Toyota was last seen parked on the street near 35th Avenue and Polk Street, while the owner was out of town.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Thirty-four minutes later, officers from the Tempe Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Toyota to a business parking lot near the area of Broadway Road and Roosevelt Street, in Tempe.

The police found the Toyota unoccupied in the parking lot.  The Toyota was recovered and processed for evidence.  The owner was contacted and the Toyota was returned to the owner in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Celica in September 2000 at Precision Toyota of Tucson in Arizona.
