The owners of a 2011 BMW contacted the East Point Police Department to report that his vehicle had been taken during the day while he was at a downtown shopping area.

The East Point PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Within a short time of the LoJack activation a police officer equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) began to pick up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW with the PTC that were installed in the police cars.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the police tracked the BMW to a shopping center where it was found abandoned in the parking lot.

After a check of the area the BMW was towed by the officers to the impound lot for further investigation by a detective.

The owner did not know that his BMW was equipped with a LoJack unit and was glad that it did.

The LoJack® System was installed in the BMW in January 2013 at United BMW Gwinnett.
