The owners of a Chevrolet Tahoe contacted the Charleston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home.

The Charleston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

A short time later, officers from the North Charleston Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Tahoe with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Tahoe to an apartment complex in the city.

The Chevrolet Tahoe was located intact and undamaged in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Officers set up surveillance on the Tahoe for several hours but did not observe any suspects near the Chevrolet. Crime scene officers arrived and processed the Tahoe for latent fingerprints and the investigation is continuing.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Tahoe May 2004 at Maroone Chevrolet in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
