The owner of a 2005 Honda Civic contacted the Irving Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen.  The owner had left her Honda unattended in the street in front of her house, warming up with the keys in it.  When she returned to her Honda, it was missing.

The Irving PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

Eleven minutes later, officers with the Dallas Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that is installed in their patrol cars.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda and observed it parked on the side of the road with two suspects inside.  When officers approached the stolen Honda, it sped off.  After a short chase, the driver of the stolen Honda jumped out of it and fled on foot into a creek.  Officers found him shivering behind a log and he was arrested.  The Honda was recovered in good condition.  The driver admitted to the officers that he stole this Honda by himself.  The passenger, who stayed in the stolen Honda, stated that he did not know it was stolen and was released.  The Honda was recovered in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Civic in April of 2005 at David McDavid Honda in Irving, Texas.
