The owner’s husband of the Honda CRV was on his way to a doctor’s appointment, when he stopped to pick up a cup coffee. He unfortunately made the mistake of leaving the keys in the ignition with the motor running.  Apparently an opportunist passing by saw this and jumped into the Honda and took off. This was in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn, confines of the 66 precinct. Upon coming out of the store he saw his Honda missing. He immediately called the New York Police Department, when they arrived they took a written report. This information was then entered by the NYPD in the City, State, and Federal crime computer which automatically activated the LoJack® System in the stolen Honda.

Within a short while of the activation, officers from the 72 precinct picked up the silent LoJack signal on their onboard LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that their vehicle was equipped with. This was in the Sunset Park section of Brooklyn, confines of the 72 Precinct. They tracked the Honda through various streets in Sunset Park, eventually locating the vehicle parked on a residential street. They staked the Honda out for a short while, however when no one showed up for the vehicle they took it into custody. The Honda was recovered in excellent condition, with no damage on it, minus the keys.

The owner was contacted and she was elated that her Honda was recovered so quickly, especially with no damage. She further stated that she was happy that when she purchased the Honda, she purchased the LoJack system. She went on to say that this was the very thing her husband would caution her on, yet he did exactly what he told her not to do. That’s why she was all the more happy she had LoJack installed in her Honda because in all probability it would not have gotten recovered so quickly.

The LoJack® System was installed on October 2008 at Hillside Honda in Jamaica Queens, New York.
