The owners of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup contacted the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to report that their residence had been burglarized.  Their Chevy pickup had been stolen during the burglary along with other items.

The Maricopa County SO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Three minutes later, officers from the Mesa Police Department picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Chevrolet to the 100 block of north Alma School Road in Mesa.

The Chevrolet was occupied when located and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.  Due to the related burglary, additional investigation is being conducted.

The Chevrolet was later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Silverado in March 2004 at Midway Chevrolet in Phoenix, Arizona.
