The owner of a 2015 Smart Car reported to the Atlanta Police Department that it was taken from a downtown parking area.

The Atlanta PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Smart Car. The LoJack unit had just been installed at the dealership three days before being stolen.

Within a short time of the LoJack activation an Atlanta PD officer equipped with a LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) began to pick up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Smart Car with the PTC that were installed in the police cars.

Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the police officer tracked the stolen Smart Car to a shopping area where it was found abandoned.

After a check of the area, the Smart Car was towed by the officers to the impound lot for further investigation by a detective.

The owner could not believe the recovery time of the Smart Car because they had he had just bought the car and had installed the LoJack unit a few days ago. He was very happy to get the Smart Car back with no damage.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Smart Car on February 2015 at Mercedes Benz of Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia.
