The owners of a Honda Odyssey contacted the New York Police Department to report their vehicle was stolen when the operator of the vehicle, was making a delivery on East 39th Street, left the vehicle running and unattended in the confines of Manhattan’s 17th precinct.

The NYPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later officers assigned to the NYPD’s Bronx Auto Larceny Unit picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked and located the occupied Honda on Sheridan Ave near 171st St. in the confines of the Bronx’s 44th precinct. The officers immediately surrounded the Honda and arrested the driver in the stolen Odyssey.  The undamaged Honda, along with the keys, was impounded as arrest evidence and was eventually returned to a very happy owner.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Odyssey in October 2000 at Metro Honda in Johnston, Rhode Island.
