The owners of a 2001 Ford Expedition contacted the Pasadena Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their residential driveway in Pasadena, Texas, sometimes during the previous night.

The Pasadena PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Ford Expedition.

A short while later, officers from the Houston PD Northeast command picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Expedition with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Ford to a mini warehouse storage unit on Lee Road in North Houston. Officers called auto theft for assistance to verify the unit where the signal was strongest and a search warrant was executed on the unit. The stolen Expedition was recovered along with a large number of catalytic converters, wheels and vehicle batteries. The suspect was identified and warrants issued for his arrest.
