The owner of a 2011 Honda Accord contacted the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen.  A neighbor had come to their home under the pretense of an emergency need to use the Honda and promised to return the vehicle the same day.  After several days of the Honda not being returned and an investigation of the suspect’s past criminal history for similar thefts, the Cumberland County SO verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Honda.

A short while later officers from the Fayetteville Police Department on routine patrol duties picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Honda with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Honda to an apartment building off Cain Road, off Bragg Blvd. in the northern sector of Fayetteville.

The Honda was empty and appeared to be undamaged.  The owner was notified of the recovery and allowed to take possession of the Honda.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Honda Accord in March 2011 at Anderson Honda in Baltimore, Maryland.
