The owners of a 2013 Chrysler 200 contacted the Detroit Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen overnight from the driveway.

The Detroit PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chrysler.

A short while later pilots from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit picked up the silent LoJack  signal from the stolen Chrysler with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the pilots were able to locate the Chrysler in an alley behind some abandoned homes just inside the border of Detroit.  As the helicopter made a few passes they observed the suspects were in the process of removing parts.  Upon seeing the helicopter the suspects fled on foot.

Information was passed on to the Detroit PD and several ground vehicles responded to the area.  Surveillance was established and after a short while the Chrysler was impounded.  This matter is being further investigated by the Detroit PD.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chrysler 200 in October 2014 at Enterprise Car Sales in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
