The owners of a 2008 Audi A4 contacted the North Charleston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from a local mall parking lot while the owner was shopping.

The North Charleston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the A4.

Minutes later, deputies from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Department and the North Charleston PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Audi with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies and officers tracked the Audi to a residential area of the county.

The Audi was located, undamaged and intact, parked in a closed garage of the residence. The owner of the residence was arrested. A joint investigation of the North Charleston PD and the Charleston County SD is continuing.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Audi A4 in January 2008 at Braman Audi in West Palm Beach, Florida.
