The owner of a 2010 BMW 528i 4-door sedan contacted the Miami Police Department to report their vehicle stolen from their home. The Miami PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the BMW.

Later that afternoon, a Miami-Dade Police Department pilot picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen BMW on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The pilot began tracking the stolen BMW by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The pilot then directed the Miami PD ground officers to where the BMW was located. The officers located the BMW hidden behind a wall of an apartment complex parking lot in the 500 block of S.W. 5th Street. The BMW was recovered, towed to the police impound yard for safekeeping, and removed from federal and state crime computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 2010 BMW 528i in October 2009 at Braman BMW in West Palm Beach, Florida.
