The owner of a 1996 Toyota Corolla attempted to go to work using their normal method of transportation, the city shuttle. Unfortunately, they missed the shuttle and decided to drive to work. After a hard day at work, the owner went home using their usual method of transportation, the city shuttle. When they arrived home they discovered their Toyota was missing from the parking space where they previously parked it. They contacted the Doral Police Department to report their Toyota stolen from their home. The Doral PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

Later that evening, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Corolla on their on-board LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC). The trooper began tracking the stolen Corolla by following the directional and audible cues on their PTC screen. The trooper, along with officers from Miami-Dade PD and Doral PD, located the Toyota right where the owner had parked it, in the parking lot where they worked. Apparently the owner just forgot how they went to work. The Corolla was recovered, released to the owner, who responded to the scene, and removed from federal and state crime computer systems.

The LoJack® System was installed in the 1996 Toyota Corolla in September 1996 at Toyota of South Florida in Doral.
