The owner of the Mercedes C240 went to her doctor for a checkup; she parked her car on the street. When she came out she found her Mercedes missing. This was in the Ridgewood section of Queens Confines of the 104 precinct. She immediately called the Police of the 104 precinct, when the Police arrived they took a written report. This information was then entered by the NYPD in the City, State, and Federal crime computer which automatically activated the LoJack® System in the stolen Mercedes.

Within a short while of the activation, officers from the 75 precinct Anti-Crime Unit, East New York Brooklyn, picked up the silent LoJack signal on their onboard LoJack Police Tracking Computer (PTC) that their vehicle was equipped with. They tracked the Mercedes through various streets in East New York, eventually locating the Mercedes parked on a residential street. Observation revealed that there were two persons in the Mercedes. They were able to approach the Mercedes without being detected, and immediately took them into custody, thereby avoiding a possible dangerous chase. The Mercedes was recovered in good condition, with slight damage to the right side mirror and fender.

The owner was contacted and she was elated that her Mercedes was recovered so quickly, especially with such minor damage, further stating that prior to the theft, the Mercedes had no damage on the mirror, or fender. She further stated that she was happy that when she purchased the Mercedes, she purchased the LoJack system with the car.

The LoJack® System was installed in August 2002 at Clair Mercedes in West Roxbury Massachusetts.
