The owner of a Cadillac Seville contacted the Chicago Police Department (CPD) to report that their vehicle was stolen from the 5900 block of W Superior Ave on Chicago’s west side in the Austin neighborhood. The CPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Cadillac Seville.

A short while later, officers from the Chicago’s 015th and the 025th Districts picked up the silent LoJack signal from the LoJack® System installed on stolen Cadillac on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Cadillac to the 1100 block of N Le Moyne in Chicago’s 015th District where the Cadillac was recovered un-occupied.

The stolen Cadillac Seville was located and recovered by the CPD less than an hour after it had been reported stolen.  A 025th Sergeant stated the Cadillac’s keys were found hanging from the stolen Cadillac’s driver’s door.  The Sergeant said “Undoubtedly this vehicle would have been stolen again if it sat here too long.” The Cadillac was recovered by the CPD before it could be stripped used in a crime or re-stolen. The recovered Cadillac was taken to the 025th District for further investigation.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Cadillac Seville at Grossingers Automall in Lincolnwood Illinois in January 2004.
