The owners of a 2009 Nissan Altima contacted the Richland County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home.

The Richland County SD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Nissan.

A short while later, deputies from the Richland County SD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Altima with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the deputies tracked the Nissan to a residence in a local neighborhood.

The deputies found the Nissan Altima in the garage intact and undamaged. One suspect was questioned and arrested at the scene. The investigation is continuing.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Nissan Altima in October 2008 by Nissan Turnersville in New Jersey.
