The owners of a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup contacted the Tempe Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen from the driveway of their residence.  The Chevrolet owners had left the pickup running while they went back inside the residence.  When they came out to leave, the Chevy pickup was gone.

The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

A short while later, an officer from the Gilbert Police Department, who was on his way to court, picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officer tracked the Chevrolet to a church parking lot near 44th Street and Southern Avenue in Phoenix.

The Chevrolet pickup was found unoccupied in the parking lot and appeared to have been abandoned at this location.  The Gilbert PD officer contacted the Phoenix Police Department, who responded to the scene and took disposition of the stolen vehicle recovery.   The Chevy pickup was processed for evidence and later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Silverado in November 2006 at Midway Chevrolet-Geo in Phoenix, Arizona.
