The owner of a 2007 Mercedes CLS550 contacted the Orlando Police Department to report that her vehicle was stolen during the overnight hours from the parking lot of the apartment complex in which she resides.

The Orlando PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Mercedes.

A short while later officers from the Orlando PD K-9 unit picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Mercedes with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Mercedes to the John Young Parkway and Millennia Blvd. area where one of the officers observed the Mercedes driving north on John Young Parkway. He was joined by additional units including detectives from the Auto Theft Unit.
One of the unmarked units drove directly behind the Mercedes and observed it enter an apartment complex off Raleigh Street in the Metro West area. As the Mercedes pulled into a parking spot several units blocked the Mercedes in. The driver of the Mercedes attempted to flee on foot but was tackled by one of the Auto Theft detectives within 50 feet. The driver was arrested on the scene. The Mercedes was recovered with ignition damage only.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Mercedes CLS550in May 2007 at Mercedes Benz of Fort Lauderdale.
