The owners of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup contacted the Phoenix Police Department to report that their vehicle had been stolen at gun point, in the parking lot of the retail store.  The Chevrolet owners advised police that they were in the Chevy pickup, when an unknown suspect approached and told them to get out of the vehicle.  The suspect pointed a small semi auto pistol at the owner, so they immediately complied with the request.

The Phoenix PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Chevrolet.

Fourteen minutes later officers from the Phoenix PD picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Chevrolet with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the officers tracked the Chevrolet to the area of Indian School Road and I-17.

The Chevy pickup was occupied and fled from the marked police officers when they attempted to stop it.  The marked units backed off and let the Phoenix police helicopter maintain a visual surveillance on the stolen Chevy pickup.  The Chevy pickup was eventually driven into an alley near 23rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road, where two suspects bailed out on foot.  A perimeter was immediately established.  The two suspects were taken into custody without further incident.  The investigation revealed that the same two suspects were involved and wanted for several other armed robberies in the area.

The Chevrolet was processed for evidence and later returned to the owners in good condition.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Chevrolet Silverado pickup in September 2004 at Lou Grubb AutoNation Ford in Scottsdale, Arizona.
