The owner of a 2006 Toyota Tundra contacted the US Army Provost Marshall, Fort Bragg, to report that their vehicle was stolen from the base housing parking lot at Falcon St. & Gruber Road.  The Toyota owner had parked the pickup in the parking lot and returned to discover the Toyota missing.  No one had been given permission to drive the pickup and no suspect information was known.

The Fort Bragg Military Investigative Unit verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers which automatically activated the LoJack® System concealed in the Toyota.

A short while later the Ft. Bragg Military Police (MP) Patrol Unit officers picked up the silent LoJack signal from the stolen Toyota with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTC) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  Following the directional and audible cues from the PTC, the MP officers tracked the Toyota to an on base parking lot two blocks from the theft location.   MP officers report there were no LoJack signals in the general location earlier in the night.  It is believed the pickup was taken off base before being reported as stolen, returned to the base after midnight and being recovered approximately 0200 hours.  Interviews continue and the investigation remains open.

The LoJack® System was installed in the Toyota Tundra in September 2006 at Kearney Mesa Toyota in San Diego, California.
